ASACP Cited in Huffington Post Article
LOS ANGELES (Nov. 18, 2015) — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is happy to announce that its ongoing efforts towards protecting children online and educating digital media companies about the importance of supporting this mission, continues to be recognized by popular media outlets.
One recent example is an article in The Huffington Post by Impact Editor Eleanor Goldberg, “How Apple, Facebook, Other Tech Groups are Combating Online Exploitation of Children,” which notes that the Internet remains an optimal preying ground for sexual predators.
The article discusses how leading tech companies such as Apple, Facebook, Google, Twitter and other movers and shakers, including ASACP, are combating the exploitation of children; citing statistics such as the 12,000 monthly reports of suspected child pornography submitted to ASACP’s award-winning CP Reporting Hotline.
“ASACP is not just a ‘feel good’ club of adult industry operatives,” explains the association’s Executive Director, Tim Henning. “ASACP is a tech-forward organization that is instrumental in developing new business practices and technologies that help keep children safer online — both within the adult entertainment and mainstream media worlds.”
“To be recognized as a key player alongside companies such as Apple, Facebook, Google and Twitter illustrates the association’s reach into the halls of the decision makers,” Henning adds. “From the U.S. Congress to the U.K.’s Parliament, to EU regulators and beyond, ASACP is making a tangible difference for both children and content companies alike.”
For its part, ASACP is focused on offering technologies and tools to help keep children out of and away from age-inappropriate material, but it can only do so with the continued support of its sponsors, members and contributors, and by encouraging websites to use its Best Practices, Code of Ethics and its free Restricted To Adults (RTA) website meta labeling system.
