ASACP Looks to Expand Outreach at Internext 2006
Los Angeles, CA (December 28, 2005) - The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) will again make its presence known at the upcoming Internext 2006 expo in Las Vegas. Attendees are invited to visit the ASACP booth, and to come hear ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine participate in a panel discussion as part of the Internext Seminar Series.
ASACP's Internext booth (#1129) will offer a chance for current ASACP supporters, members and sponsors to meet our staff in person - and for our colleagues in the online adult industry who have yet to get involved with ASACP to stop by and find out more about who we are and what we do. Even if you don't know us yet, you'll probably know some of the generous people who will be volunteering their time at our booth, people like: Tom (iBill), Kathi (NationalNet), Vic (Kickass Pictures), Derek (WebcamCash), Chandie (JennaCash), Chris (ATK), Michael (Maleflixxx), Brian (Pistol Media), Lisa (Badpuppy), Paul (IPAffiliates) and Tony (Trafficdude).
On Saturday, January 7th at 11:00 AM, ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine will take part in a seminar panel entitled "Age Verification: Your Business and The Law." While ASACP does not endorse any one particular age verification service or strategy, we firmly believe that online adult companies need to educate themselves about the various options, especially since zealous law makers continue to use "child protection" as a club with which to attack the adult entertainment industry. The discussion will be moderated by noted First Amendment attorney Larry Walters, and the panel will also include AVN's Kathee Brewer and Sean Trotter o fAdamEve.com, as well as attorneys Clyde DeWitt and Greg Piccionelli.
Internext is the world`s largest adult Internet and digital media convention, where thousands of online adult industry professionals come every year to network, strategize, and catch up on the latest trends and technology. According to ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine, Internext is the ideal venue for ASACP to connect with the people who support our mission. Many of the companies we met last year at Internext 2005 have since become ASACP members and sponsors. In fact, ASACP membership has nearly doubled since then. This year we hope to take it to a whole new level. We really want to get our message out there: "Protect your business by protecting children!"
The rapidly growing support described by Ms. Irvine has enabled ASACP to improve its CP Reporting Hotline, which handles thousands of child pornography reports every month, and to launch new initiatives for 2006. These include ramping up advocacy efforts with the federal government, improving mainstream media visibility to educate the public about how the industry protects children, and networking with international organizations to address the global issues of child pornography and child protection as they relate to the online adult industry.
Founded in 1996, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP battles child pornography through its CP reporting hotline, and by organizing the efforts of the online adult industry to combat the heinous crime of child sexual abuse.
