2700 Suspect Child Pornography Reports

Los Angeles - (January 10, 2003) - Adult Sites Against Child Pornography (ASACP) received over 2700 suspect child pornography reports in December `02 compared to 1200 in December `01. Of these, ASACP reported 275 child pornography sites to the authorities, and 160 of these sites have been shutdown.

"Even though there was an increase in suspect reports, the ratio of the reports received to reports sent to the government has been dramatically affected by spam and the media. If a company sends a spam email stating that it contains child pornography, we receive 200-300 reports about the email in just one day. If a network talk show host has a program on child pornography, we receive a few hundred extra reports." according to Joan Irvine, Executive Director of ASACP.

ASACP is the premier organization helping the adult site industry to make a difference in the battle against child pornography. Over 2000 adult sites that are taking a stand against child pornography proudly displayed the ASACP logo. If you are interested in learning more about ASACP or helping in the fight against child pornography, please view the ASACP site (www.asacp.org) or email [email protected].
