ASACP Returns to XBIZ London

LOS ANGELES (Sep. 14, 2015) — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is delighted to announce its return to the annual XBIZ London conference, set for September 15-18, at the Hilton Doubletree Tower of London Hotel.

According to its producers, XBIZ London is the U.K. industry’s top event of the year, uniting international business leaders for three days of fresh insights and deal-making opportunities.

For ASACP, the London event is an ideal venue for delivering its message of responsibility, showing businesses how to protect themselves by protecting children, while maintaining a voice in the ongoing process of determining the future of age verification on the Internet — the frontline of which is unfolding today in the U.K.

The promoters of XBIZ London have included ASACP among the show’s sponsors, with an ad in the event’s show guide and complimentary event registration for ASACP’s U.K.-based Director of European Outreach, Vince Charlton, who will once again attend XBIZ London as part of the association’s global outreach program

Charlton will deliver the association’s message of self-regulation to industry stakeholders — advising proactive steps for online child protection, such as using the Restricted To Adults (RTA) website meta-label, plus adhering to ASACP’s Best Practices and Code of Ethics.

Charlton will also represent the association on XBIZ London’s timely age verification panel, entitled “Age Verification: Problems vs. Solutions,” set for Thursday, Sep. 17, at 3:00 p.m.

According to XBIZ, there is a worldwide move to prevent minors and in some places, consenting adults as well, from viewing porn online. In the U.K., regulatory agency ATVOD is among the forces pushing for mandatory age verification and making headway in its efforts to regulate access to online adult entertainment. The age verification session will inform the event’s attendees of all the latest developments and what they mean to the global marketplace.

“Age verification is underpinning many of the recent moves to restrict Internet access, especially in the U.K., so it will be a great opportunity to address this issue at XBIZ London, which draws professional adult entertainment companies from around the world,” Charlton explains. “ASACP has a voice in the discussions over the future of online age verification, and uses the annual London event to educate businesses about protecting themselves today to ensure their success tomorrow.”
