ASACP Receives its Millionth CP Report

LOS ANGELES (January 12, 2016) — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) announces the newest milestone in its two decade long history: the recent receipt of the one millionth report to the ASACP Child Exploitation Tipline since August 14, 2003.

Although ASACP’s CE Reporting Tipline has been in operation since the association’s inception in 1996, it has only been able to accurately track report stats since Aug. 14, 2003.

“This bittersweet milestone occurred on Jan. 5, coinciding with ASACP’s 20th Anniversary celebration and providing another reason to cheer about the association’s success,” explains ASACP Executive Director Tim Henning. “The statistic is also a sobering reminder of the scale of the problem and the continued need for vigilance in protecting at-risk youth online.”

ASACP offers its globally recognized Tipline for webmasters and the public to anonymously report suspected child pornography and exploitation, with its member sites linking to this active Tipline that processes thousands of reports monthly. Verified “Red Flag” reports are then forwarded to the FBI, NCMEC, and European CP prevention hotlines for further action.

“The ASACP CE Reporting Tipline is as relevant and needed today as it was 20 years ago,” Henning added, “but it can only be operated through the ongoing generous financial support of our sponsors, members and contributors.”

The Tipline is funded by ASACP’s sister organization, the ASACP Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that also funds the Restricted To Adults (RTA) website meta label that works with content filtering software to provide effective, free protection against exposure to age-inappropriate materials. Contributions to the ASACP Foundation are tax deductible for American businesses and may also provide tax benefits to overseas firms.

“With your help, ASACP can continue to stay abreast of today’s fast-changing technological environment and its significant challenges,” Henning concluded. “By doing so, we may never have to receive our 2 millionth report.”

A new article details the association’s founding, history, mission, achievements and awards over the past two decades, can be read on the freshly revamped ASACP.org website.
