ASACP's Joan Irvine Interviewed on D.C. News

Thursday, Jun 26, 2008
LOS ANGELES — ASACP CEO Joan Irvine was interviewed on WJLA in Washington last month. The interview is now available for viewing on YouTube.

The interview was part of Irvine's trip to Washington to help kick off Internet Safety Month. Other activities included a press conference at the National Press Club with Wicked Pictures performer/director Stormy Daniels and Vice President of Special Projects Joy King to announce the success of the RTA "Restricted to Adults" website label.

After the press conference Irvine was interviewed on WJLA where she discussed the efforts by the adult entertainment industry to protect children from age-inappropriate content online.

"Many people believe that the adult entertainment industry wants corrupt children, not protect them," Irvine said. "ASACP has worked diligently to let people know that is simply not the case, being interviewed on [WJLA} helped me to share that message with viewers throughout the D.C. area."

In the interview, Irvine also discussed the Parental Control Bar, a free online software developed by the Website Rating and Advisory Council (WRAAC) that helps parents prevent their children from accessing adult-oriented websites. WRAAC co-sponsored the press conference.

ASACP also is showing on YouTube highlights from the 2007 RTA Press Conference and public service announcements, which were produced by ASACP and feature Stormy Daniels. A video featuring highlights from the 2008 RTA Press Conference will be released later this year.

Founded in 1996, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP also works to help parents prevent children from viewing age-inappropriate material online.
