Los Angeles - (April 1, 2003) - People who have followed Adult Sites Against Child Pornography (ASACP) for the last several years will notice a change in the number of sites reported to the authorities and the ASACP statistics. Therefore, ASACP is repeating the announcement about changes in the ASACP reviewing and reporting procedures.

Excerpts from the F.B.I. letter

ASACP received over 2700 suspect child pornography reports in March and reported over 70 sites to authorities. The F.B.I. issued subpoenas for the majority of these and stated in a letter, " your efforts have led to cooperation with other individuals with important information about individuals selling illegal images of children".

ASACP has made the following changes to its procedures:

• Supplemental data such as site registration, hosting company, and billing company information is now included in its reports. Additionally, the ASACP Compliance and Site Review Manager is doing other research based on requests from the F.B.I.
• In the past it was illegal for anyone, even ASACP, to access suspect sites as a paid member. The F.B.I. gave ASACP permission to enter a suspect site and review it with the member ID and password submitted by our supporters.
• ASACP has started investigating reports of spam email that advertise sites as containing child pornography.
