Has New Procedures for Reviewing Suspect Child Pornography Reports
Los Angeles - (March 3, 2003) - Adult Sites Against Child Pornography (ASACP) received over 3000 suspect child pornography reports in February. Due to recently implemented procedures, people who have followed the ASACP Stats for years will notice a change in the number of sites reported to the authorities and the ASACP statistics. ASACP reported just over 90 sites and is pleased to announce that the F.B.I. issued subpoenas for the majority of these.

ASACP will send confirmed reports to only the F.B.I. and NCMEC, so several government agencies do not work independently on the same case.
ASACP met with the Safe-Team at the F.B.I. offices in Los Angeles to evaluate its reviewing and reporting procedures. As a result, ASACP made these subsequent changes, which:
Includes supplemental information in its reports: site registration, hosting company, and billing company. Additionally, the ASACP Compliance and Site Review Manager is doing other research based on special requests from the F.B.I.
Uses the member ID and password submitted with a report to review a site. Prior, it was illegal for even ASACP to access suspect sites as a paid member.
Investigates reports of spam email that advertise sites as containing child pornography.
