ASACP Named to 2005 Associations Advance America Honor Roll

Los Angeles - (July 18, 2005) - The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has been named to the 2005 Associations Advance America Honor Roll, a national awards competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), Washington, DC (http://www.asaenet.org/asae/cda/index/1,1584,ETI20912_MEN1_NID5007_NVTleft,00.html).

ASACP received the award for its cpHotline.org program (http://www.cphotline.org) which was developed to help peer-to-peer (P2P) software users recognize, remove, and report child pornography (CP) images encountered online.

"ASACP knows that there are multiple distribution methods for these illegal images on the Internet. We felt it was important to help other organizations and industries combat CP by sharing our recently developed technology platforms. As a related example, cpHotline.org saved the P2P Patrol (www.p2ppatrol.org) years of development and provided an immediate method for P2P customers to report suspected CP," stated Joan Irvine, executive director, ASACP.

Now in its 15th year, the prestigious Associations Advance America Awards program recognizes associations that propel American forward with innovative projects in education, skills training, standard setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship, and community service. Although association activities have a powerful impact on everyday life, they often go unnoticed by the general public.

ASACP`s program truly embodies the spirit of the Associations Advance America campaign. It is an honor and an inspiration to showcase this activity as an example of the many contributions associations are making to Advance American society," remarked Associations Advance American Chair David Gabri, President and CEO, Associated Luxury Hotel International.

The ASACP mission is to help the online entertainment industry, including adult entertainment, in its ongoing efforts to battle CP on the Internet through its CP reporting hotline. In addition, ASACP provides a self-regulatory vehicle for its adult entertainment members through a Code of Ethics that promotes the protection of children through responsible, professional business practices.
