ASACP at Women in Adult Happy Hour

Los Angeles - (March 22, 2005) – The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) will attend the Women in Adult (WIA) Happy Hour on April 1st from 5:00 – 7 PM at the Tempe Mission Palms Courtyard.

ASACP will have a presentation for those who wish to learn more about the organization, starting at 4:45 PM. Joan Irvine, Executive Director, will be available to discuss the expanded ASACP mission. Gracie Bautista, Membership Coordinator, the members of the Advisory Council (http://www.asacp.org/page.php?content=news&item=183), and Brandon Shalton, Cydata Services, will also be available to answer questions.

Recently ASACP announced a name change and its nonprofit status, and launched a redesigned site – www.asacp.org. ASACP also introduced a Compliance system to monitor Approved Members to prove to the government and surfers that the industry is interested in self-regulation. This system provides online validation of its Approved Members and Sponsors. It verifies compliance with the ASACP Code of Ethics by spidering for unacceptable terms which denote CP.

“I realized that many people in the industry are still unaware of the ASACP mission, its child pornography reporting hotline, its Approved Member program, and its expanded mission “Protecting Your Business By Protecting Children.” Therefore, one of the goals for 2005 is to have a stronger presence in the industry. Holly Moss, Chairperson/Founder of WIA and a member of the ASACP Advisory Council, agreed and thought that the WIA Happy Hour at The Phoenix Forum would be a good venue to provide this information,” stated Joan Irvine, executive director, ASACP.

ASACP is the organization that helps the adult site industry make a difference in the battle against child pornography. In addition to its hotline, ASACP provides a self-regulatory vehicle for its members through a Code of Ethics that promotes the protection of children through responsible, professional business practices.

If you are one of the more than 5,700 sites that take a stand against child pornography by displaying the ASACP logo but are not a Sponsor or a recently signed-up Approved Member or Supporter, please take advantage of the new benefits.

If you wish to schedule a meeting with Joan Irvine during the Phoenix Forum, please contact Joan Irvine at [email protected] or for further information on ASACP, visit www.asacp.org.
