ASACP Adds New Items To Best Practices

Los Angeles - (December 31, 2003) - ASACP added two items to the recommended Best Practices (http://www.asacp.org/bestpractices.html) and is asking the adult site industry to voluntarily comply. In addition to providing a hotline for surfers to report suspect child pornography, ASACP provides a self-regulatory vehicle for its membership. Through its enhanced Code of Ethics and responsible, professional business practices, the industry promotes the protection of children.

Even though the adult-related Spam only represented 14 percent of all Spam last month, people are incensed when they receive unsolicited adult-oriented emails. They get even more upset and vocal when children receive these emails. Therefore, ASACP recommends that companies that send legitimate e-marketing to label their materials as `ADV ADLT.` This will prevent children from unknowingly viewing adult material and is just a good business practice in today`s political climate,  said Joan Irvine, executive director, ASACP.

New items added to recommended Best Practices

  • Label all e-marketing material with "ADV ADLT."
  • On Index (warning) page: include all disclaimers, age verification, etc and exclude images to prevent children from unknowingly viewing adult material.
  • ASACP is an organization helping the adult site industry make a difference in the battle against child pornography. Over 4700 sites that are taking a stand against child pornography proudly display the ASACP logo. If you are interested in learning more about ASACP or helping in the fight against child pornography, please view the ASACP site (www.asacp.org ) or email [email protected]..
