ASACP to Showcase Chi Chi LaRue PSA at GayVN Awards

Los Angeles, CA (March 23, 2009) – The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) will be honored at the 2009 GayVN Awards in San Francisco on March 28th at The Castro Theatre. ASACP will receive a certificate of recognition from the City of San Francisco to honor its efforts to protect children online. At the event ASACP will also be showing a new public service announcement (PSA) featuring Chi Chi LaRue.

The new Restricted To Adults – RTA Website Label PSA features LaRue encouraging parents to use parental filtering software in order to protect children from viewing age-inappropriate content, the PSA is available for viewing on YouTube.com/ASACPRTA. LaRue is an award winning director who has served over 20 years in the Adult Industry. LaRue has produced over 300 films in the Gay, Straight and Bisexual genres and is an outspoken advocate of Safer Sex. The video is the fifth in an ongoing series of PSAs produced by ASACP featuring different adult entertainment stars. Previous RTA PSAs featured Stormy Daniels, Sunny Leone, Catalina Cruz, Tera Patrick and Evan Seinfeld.

LaRue stated, “I’m honored to have been asked to do this PSA. I know we’re all in the porn business, and while many say our industry is taboo, I feel that we have a responsibility to our consumers. By making sure that we label our sites properly, we are one step closer to keeping this content restricted to its target audience, and keeping those who oppose us out of our wigs…well I’m the only one with a wig, but you know what I mean.”

The GAYVN Awards presented by NakedSword.com are dedicated to recognizing outstanding movies and talented individuals who have contributed to the advancement of the gay adult entertainment industry. The event also features an evening of tailgate parties on March 27th and a brunch preceding the gala awards ceremony on the 28th. The 2009 GayVN Awards will be hosted by Margaret Cho and Janice Dickenson.

ASACP CEO Joan Irvine will be attending the GayVN Awards and will be a guest on the Tim and Roma Show on Saturday afternoon. She will be available at the Naked Sword tailgate party to answer questions regarding the Restricted To Adults – RTA Website Labeling initiative and discuss the various ways companies can support the ASACP mission including the newest initiative to reach out to the consumer: “Protect Your Porn… Protect Children… Donate to ASACP.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Naked Sword for involving ASACP in the GayVN Awards. NakedSword has been an ASACP sponsor since 2003, they always go the extra mile to support our mission,” said Irvine. “We are also thrilled that ChiChi LaRue has generously volunteered to make a new RTA PSA. We are excited to debut the PSA and to be honored by the City of San Francisco.”

RTA is the adult entertainment industry’s initiative to protect children from viewing content that is age-inappropriate. It was developed by ASACP out of a need for an easy to use and internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only. The RTA label is a unique string of “meta data” which can easily be inserted into the computer code of any website. Parental filtering software recognizes the tag and prevents children from viewing adult content. The RTA label is free and universally available. ASACP launched RTA in November 2006 and currently over 6 million sites have labeled with RTA. ASACP is preparing to launch a new RTA Plus and RTA Verified in April.

Founded in 1996, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP also works to help parents prevent children from viewing age-inappropriate material online. More information is available at www.asacp.org.
