ASACP CEO Honored By The Redondo Beach Round Table Beautification Committee

Los Angeles, CA (April 1, 2010) - Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) CEO, Joan Irvine, a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Redondo Beach Program, was recently honored by the Redondo Beach Round Table Beautification Committee.

The Redondo Beach Round Table is a public education and advisory group comprised of City Leaders, elected officials, and a cross section of community leaders representing as many interests in the City as possible. Since 1962, the Round Table format has stimulated discussion and action on many topics across the city, including the environment, social issues and economic planning.

The Beautification Committee was established for the purpose of recognizing residents and businesses within the City who have remodeled, re-landscaped, or have newly built a building with especially noteworthy design and construction. The Beautification Award was recently given to Irvine and the Leadership Redondo Class of 2008 for their Get Water Smart Garden project at Wilderness Park.

Since there is a water crisis in California and Redondo Beach has the additional problem of water run-off into the ocean, Leadership Redondo 2008 (LR08) chose to plant an educational Get Water Smart Garden in Wilderness Park (http://www.getwatersmart-rb.org) as their group project.

Irvine stated, “I’m honored to be a graduate of the Leadership Redondo program and to have the opportunity to contribute to my community. Receiving the Beautification Award for our efforts on the Get Water Smart Garden is an important reminder that by working together we can all make a difference.”

Joan Irvine started with ASACP in 2002 as Executive Director and was promoted to CEO in 2008. She has worked in business technology and association management for over 25 years for companies including ADP, SDC and VIC. She advocates on behalf of online child protection in Washington and Sacramento, and participates in the Financial Coalition Against Child Pornography, Family Online Safety Institute, and the Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee. She belongs to the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and is a graduate of the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce Leadership program. She has a BA in Human Development and Psychology from the University of Kansas. Irvine is a graduate of the Leadership Redondo Class of 2008. Leadership Redondo is a program of the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.
